To top the utilitarian trend I’ve spotted on several collections, designers have spoiled us with some amazing boots that will let you ride Fall/Winter in style like never before. Directly inspired from equestrian boots, military galoshes or boxing high-top sneakers, there are boots for everyone and every day. This will be probably an exhaustive list of the most amazing boots seen during the menswear Fall 2010 fashion shows. My favorites? Louis Vuitton for their versatility.

Haute-sneakers – Dior Homme Spring 2010
After succeeding to Slimane in 2007, former assistant Kris Van Assche has begun to put his own signature to Dior Homme. More minimalist and casual, you may disagree but I consider his line a little sportswear just by looking at how Kris emphasized volumes. The new Dior Homme “Haute-”sneakers are available now. The high-top model is definitely different from what we used to see. It comes in beige, white or black, made of leather and the lacing is actually at the top part of the shoe to create a great effect above the ankles. They remind me of more upscale boxing shoes. The zipper is surprisingly located in the back of the shoe, probably to make sure your feet getting into it easily. The line is completely with mid-high and low sneakers, all good-looking and love the old-school vibe with the double-velcro.

Boots to kill
You can call me a fetishist if I tell you I think thigh-high boots can make a woman look absolutely sexy. Thigh-high heeled boots have definitely a sexual factor on me and most of the men, either they can look adorable and elegant, or totally slutty if someone does not know how to pull this off (…or maybe that woman is a street hooker). But how many women I see failing to wear these type of boots properly. Everything is in the legs. To wear thigh high boots you must be confident and not ashamed to show your legs (which means no skirts). If they are thin and long, that’s one great way to refine your silhouette. Now you are ready to kill the streets.

Seasons after seasons, these boots are still the coolest to wear, but nevertheless the way you dig into these makes the difference. Cassette Kids – Lying around

Fashion has already been closely in relation with music. Clearly, who has not been influenced by our favorite artists and bands? All the musical cultures have created street styles that today influence designers and retailers, and vice-versa.
While I was preparing for my long getaway packing and making a music playlist on my iPod – I was listening to Cassette Kids, a Sydney-based rock group that I’ve discovered a few month ago. While I’ve been neglecting to watch their music videos until now, I was surprised to catch the beautiful singer Katrina Noorbergen wearing the famous Chloe Sevigny x Opening Ceremony buckle boots. And the see-through dress over a black body suit – so sexy!
This is the first single from the Cassette Kids forthcoming debut album “Nothing On TV”, directed by renowned fashion photographer Pierre Toussant. The single will be released on the 30th of October and the album is expected in early 2010. For more information head to their website or MySpace page.

Alexander Wang Resort 2010 shoes – Not what you would think

My posts about Alexander Wang always tend to subjectivity due to all my admiration for this genius designer. No wonder he generates such adulation every time he launches a new line. And don’t get me wrong this new footwear collection is another footstep in Wang-worshipping. On November 1st, the new 2010 resort shoe line will be available at his website. Despite a design close to the famous creepers, the new line cut out the buckles and studs that we see on everyone’s shoes today. The new collection is a bit more conservative and experiments materials never seen before by Wang, just in line with his Spring 2010 collection. I love the Saharian shoe with a wooden heel. (more…)

Frida Giannini is a smart woman, the Gucci Creative Director knows how to reach the pop culture and the trendsetters. She found in Mark Ronson the right teammate, the NY-based English DJ & producer is a very stylish man. Mark and Frida teamed-up to create a collection of limited edition sneakers. The three styles the brand is previewing include a chukka, a deck shoe, and a more traditional sneaker, which, with their bright colorways and preppy styling, call to mind the footwear of another of Ronson’s favorite lines, Band of Outsiders. I don’t think Mark Ronson could have refused Gucci’s collaboration, he explained: “I spent many many years as an avid sneaker collector, so I wanted to make sure these Gucci shoes were truly special, both from an aesthetic point of view and a collectable one.” Avid kick collectors will no doubt want them all.
