Alberta Ferrett, Christopher Kane, Proenza Schouler, Calvin Klein and Isabel Marant
By popular demand, I have decided to make this list of this summer’s dress trends. My selection of dresses from various designers will give inspiration and no mores excuses to stay cool and fashionable under the heat. Frocks that you will appreciate to wear everywhere at the beach house in South California or in the parks of your favorite city. From the colorful boho dresses by Isabel Marant to the vintage “pioneer” look by Ralph Lauren, or the modern and minimalist Calvin Klein, these are some of my favorite trends of the current season.
There are those, I know, who will say that the liberation of humanity, the freedom of man and mind, is nothing but a dream. They are right. It is the American dream. ~Archibald MacLeish
Happy Birthday USA! It’s 4th July, a day to celebrate the values and the history that made the USA such a wonderful country. A country that inspired and fascinated all of us for so many years in every domain, from music to fashion, from technology to sports, and so on. That country which adopted me 3 years ago, where I enjoyed every single moment, witnessing the patriotism, the abnegation of defeat, and the obsession for freedom and hope even in the worst situations. The spirit you’ll only find here where every dreams come true. Back when I was a in France, I was one of these skeptical persons thinking that the Americans were nuts, with their beliefs and stereotypes. Today, even if the country has its own good and bad sides, I will always be grateful for the chances and opportunities that came to me.

What makes our Chloé girls look so radiant? You are going to be oohing when learning models were wearing few or almost no makeup during the Spring/Summer 2010 editions. While summer feels like starting over the city of New York, I was left wondering what would be the beauty trend of this season. Like I always mention “natural” looks will leave your skin flawless and sculptured like our beloved models. As I would rather leave it to beauty experts to talk about make-up, nude tones or something a bit “bronzed” are suggested to create this natural glow on-the-go. If you would like to make a statement, at Versace, we could notice a splash of purple pastel around the eyes which could be a great replacement to the smokey eyes effect.
A post about this intimate label from kiwi-land has been sitting on my desk for so long among many other designer labels I must have you discover! Not only Lonely Hearts has a witty name, the designers behind the label know how to create a playful yet extremely feminine and intimate lingerie line. Using boudoir-inspired fabrics such as silk, chiffons, satin, lace, velvet, cute trims and leather inserts, the collection reminds immediately 19th century underwears. Half-cup bras and bandage bras take cues from vintage corsets whereas the soft-cups are 70’s inspired to add a more modern and natural look for less sophisticated girls.
Sexy and youthful, Lonely Hearts is transforming our nerdy girl into a Lolita. Wearable under your clothes, these pieces can live in separates and be exposed for the most adventurous ones.
Lonely Hearts does not only do dreamy lingerie, they’ve just released a new collection “What is your damage?” of vintage pop-chic clothes that only look amazing. As usual, it’s always my pleasure to invite you to watch their video on their new website.

After 4 days of Fashion Week, I’ve been spotting a wave of sleek or textured leather dresses. Designers have been surf on the Spring 2010 trends (Celine, Karl, YSL, etc.) with either sexy black or brown vintage-ish leathers. A fabric which I believe is more appropriate for Fall/Winter, no?

The Superbowl is – probably – the biggest and most celebrated day in America. Hard to miss the exhilirating craze on this Sunday with everyone giving support to its favorite team, cheering with pitchers of beers and dismissing his food diet for a day. On the fashion side, we already have a winning team and MVP when looking at Alexander Wang’s classic football-inspired collection for this Spring 2010 which has led to a large victory per the critics and fashionista ecstatic reviews.
If you want to dress on a Football-istic note without having to embrace the sportswear look, you can also get your hands on these cool accessories.
If you are done with skin tight leggings, I’ll probably give you another one last reason to try something that will get your skinny dream back on. The Australian label Black Milk creates some funky and shiny skin-tight leggings, that will visually catch everyone’s attention. The sprayed ones are awesome, they will make you fly to the Moon.
When we all thought the fedora was dead after the last Indiana Jones movie, the famous hat is still an accessory that endures across the seasons. Usually men’s favorite millinery, on the Spring 2010 runways I’ve seen fedoras all over and stylishly designed to freshen up your head. Not only intended for men, I’ve spotted some fedora on collections for women on occasions. From the beachside to the office, there is a fedora for everyone.
After looking at the Spring 2010 boards of collections I’ve been wanting for a couple of months to share this trend I had spotted on the runways. For Spring, designers had had a fascination for youth, not to mention it in a perverse way, but the iconic Lolita spirit was definitely around. With a combination of provocative little-girl frocks, quirky embellishments with floral or crystal embroideries, and innocent accessories like the bow-tie in the hair or the Chanel clogs. Pastel and bright colors, animal and floral prints were all over the place, designers pulled off extremely well what could be the summer’s “heat”.
