Sophie's behind-the-scenes
It’s been a while I wanted to introduce you to my friend Sophie. Also a blogger and in love with fashion, not only as a make-up artist she does a tremendous job but she shares on her blog insightful tips on how to perfect your make-up in the morning to look like you are going to walk down the catwalk. So feel free to ask her any advice and she will post it. When I asked her to pitch her blog, which is often the hardest thing to do when you barely have a minute to think of it, her answer was pure pleasure:
“I have a confession to make, I’ve always wanted to start my own blog but never made time to, nor had any ideas what to be blogging about until now! Welcome to my spot, a place where I will be sharing what I wear; that includes everything! Just read my tagline. After all isn’t life about sharing? So basically I started blogging for pure fun , it’s a great platform to share and also to interact with other bloggers.”
And like any fashionista, she loves clothes and I have to admit she pulls any items off pretty well. Enjoy reading Sophie’s blog!

Discovered yesterday on Bleach Black, this Indonesian label entitled Since Always makes some stunning pieces with lots of contrasts between colors and fabrics. Love the simplicity and complexity of the design, the 3-dimensional shapes create a good balance between elegance and comfort. I hope to give you more about this collection in the near future! Take a look at the entire lookbook on their website.

Some random TopShop styles
There are days like today, you are just done seeing the same styles over and over. Obviously not everyone is called Agyness Deyn. But come on people, get over what you see in the store mannequins!
So today this post is dedicated to trends you are sick of and you probably still wear (I’m not going to pretend I’m not wearing plaid shirts under a jacket). And randomly, I found a great discussion that started last Spring on TheFashionSpot with the same idea and I laughed so much reading everyone’s comment, because it’s so true! Here my top worst-trends:
#10 Crocs
#9 Vans
#8 Anything Coach
#7 “I’m a rich kid, but I’m gonna pretend to be a hippie and not wash for 2 months!!”
#6 Sequins…too shiny daytime
#5 Faux-leather looking leggings… are everywhere and can look ridiculous when the panty’s lines are visible
#4 Skinny jeans for men…I just don’t get it
#3 Uggs… and minus 1000 points when worn in summer
#2 Over the knee boots… if you don’t do it right
#1 Blazers with the statement tee-shirt (C’mon man!)
Special mention for dressing like the mannequins in Topshop – because it’s sooo true.

One of the advantage of going to Tokyo for a night is that I could get a hand on a Vogue Nippon issue and take it back with me home. Going through this December issue, I fell in love with the long long editorials, size and quality of the paper and the content (even though I don’t read one piece of that language). Thanks to Fashion Gone Rogue for putting together all the covers of 2009 in review so we could all appreciate one of the best cover in the world today. Not only you have the cream of the cream out of the casting, but their covers are quite intriguing. I love to hate the letters on top of the models, the white background and the cheesy headlines.
Vogue Nippon if you hear me, I secretly love your magazine, please subscribe me!

Proenza Schouler Pre Spring 2010 collection
“We do most of our shopping online, and we suspect our girl does, too.” – right on Jack! On this note, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez just have got on the e-commerce bus by adding to their website a shopping section where you can find the latest items from Proenza. You may be already disappointed to know you won’t find their amazing tweed jacket from their Fall 2009 runways, but your eyes will get bigger when you find out that only exclusive items will be available. Only small items that don’t make it to stores will be found on the website and with limited stock. However their plan is to add more accessories like bags and shoes so that they give you a reason to spend more on their fabulous products! So save on your meals and parties, instead stock up on Holidays gifts!

What was the best way to kick off the week back in NY? Certainly not with a flu…it may have been one of the most exhausting experience but after stocking up with Tamiflu and Advil I’m glad to be feeling much better relatively compared to yesterday. People, keep washing your hands as much as you can and protect yourself with a mask if you are around sick persons – never enough said.
This morning I came through the most adorable blog ever with an ecstatic “awww” in my mouth, the first street-style website dedicated to kids. I guess to start the day I needed to go across all the pages and view the cutest toddlers in great fashion. Thanks to team Awesome: Julia Samersova Adler and her husband Andrew Adler for making my day!
Not only the blog provides a great source of kids just totally adorable in a way that makes you sigh all day, its objective is also to raise funds and donate to select local kids charities focused on providing support to underprivileged children and their families.
Now I suggest to go on Planet Awesome Kid and devour all the kids only with your eyes

When the world is in its darkest time, there is always hope when you fight for what you believe is right. 410 BC is the date when Democracy was restored in Athens after years of long wars against Spartans. Probably a date that sounds too far for many of us, but it inspired the NY-based label 410BC to strive in developing a brand that promotes conscious consumerism and great fashion. 100% made in the US, 410BC offers high quality sweatshop free clothes only released in limited quantities.
Even with a strong ethical commitment, they don’t forget to focus on innovative and conceptual design. Designed by talented artists, the brand promotes their work and give back to the community which enables the creation of fantastic clothing. Highly inspired from the skater, punk, hip-hop and indie cultures, from Leonardo Da Vinci-esque illustrations to classic varsity jackets you’ll find a wide range of eclectic choices. (more…)
