I come from Paris and can tell you one thing: “I am sick of the rain.” This is a terrible thing that we have to live with for six months of the year. Rain. There is nothing fun about this word. It’s sad, cold, wet, dark and depressing. Like today, when I woke up this morning watching the rain pouring over Manhattan and getting my boots and pants soaked while commuting to the office. But nothing compared to the British. On their tiny island, they must live with and embrace it. That’s why they have brands like Burberry which understands what it is like to be permanently living under the moody rain and winds.

For next fall, Mr Bailey’s theme is, again, rain. However, the Burberry man is bringing us to a hunting party. Raincoats, sport and shooting jackets, bombers, etc. and specially liked the umbrella worn around the shoulder. Nothing beats a rigid long umbrella and everyone knows how annoying it can be to carry it around, so very good thinking by Christopher Bailey and his team. Overall, I wasn’t too impressed by what I’ve seen so far, and that’s just my own opinion. Regardless, the dotted shirts and ties underneath a charcoal suit are going to be my favorite fashion statement next season.
