This Sunday was an amazing day for a promenade in the West Village, perfect day also to catch up with my friend at Extra Virgin, my favorite brunch place. And it could not be a better day to present exotic collections with a lot of floral prints and a modern Mediterranean vibe.

After the show Derek Lam said “I haven’t done full-on color for a while”, “and it feels like the right moment now.” Well I guess he was right by mixing intelligently the legendary 40’s East Coast Cape Code style with the Disco era. The collection was multicolor and combined with floral or dotted prints. The retro pieces were absolutely fantastic, high-waisted pants and floral blouses added to a nostalgic summer period.

Diane Von Furstenberg is known to focus her shows on dresses and at her Spring 2010 collection she won’t break the rule. Her collection was marked by the antique Greek-Roman theme, leopard prints, big floral prints and a lot of draping. The accessories also were the highlights with gold crowns made of leaves. A fun and wearable collection for the hippie that lives in you.

Herve Léger came this season with a collection focused on the silhouette, despite some bad shredded denim dresses, flattering mini-dresses printed with floral or tie-dye prints made the overall collection look very hippie-inspired.

DKNY’s Spring 2010 collection presented at Donna Karan’s Greenwich St. space was very sporty with contrasting shapes absolutely made for the NYC downtown woman. Harem pants, sharp shouldered jackets and long t-shirt dresses were adorned with big floral prints in soft and lovely colors. Pink and gray being my favorite combination, the sand yellow color looks really punchy.
