Probably not a News anymore, yes TopShop finally opened last Thursday and New York City suddenly vibrated to Kate Moss’s aura. If you’ve been there you’ve probably seen Kate Moss opening the store in front of a ton of photographers and a huge crowd of fashionistas coming from all over the world to see the biggest retail event of the past 5 years. But if you haven’t I hope you will be patient enough to wait in the line for an hour before you can get in the fabulous and over-the-top retail store that is located in the heart of SoHo. Sir Philip Green is obviously happy exclaiming:
“This is genuinely the best store we have ever built.”
Once you enter the store you will see mannequins dangling from the ceiling or striking unusual poses, and you will say “wow!”. The over-the-top merchandising is breathtaking, you immediately feel the rock’n'roll vibe in the store. The different collections from collaborations with Kate Moss or Jonathan Saunders are gorgeous. What is great in this economy is there is a price for everyone. I like the shoe area, facing Broadway, you can see millions of shoes displayed all over you with lots of color, platforms and high heels. I already know some people who would spend ours at least trying all the shoes.
However, I’m not a big fan of the styles, probably will be better another year. But it’s British and at least there is something for anyone and that’s why I like it!
