Decarnin might be the leader of the rock-chick fever that has been triggered in the past two seasons. Such an anticipated venue could not attract such attention this season in Paris. This might explain why he choose to show his new collection at the Ritz’s swimming pool, exact same location where Versace used to perform. His extended shoulders jackets and sexy jeans made Balmain’s designer famous and added more on his new collection’s expectations by the industry.
And it was pleasing to see him changing of direction in a Fall Disco-Chic ensemble trimmed with Swarovski crystals, satin drape and black leather. The iconic jacket was still there but he introduced new pants (harem style) or skinny black and leather trousers. However, the more you see the collection the more you will see the same pieces but in different ensembles. Was it on purpose or just a lack of imagination (ie. budget)? Indeed the show didn’t live up to my expectations maybe because I was hoping too much. Anyway have a quick look at the collection to make your own opinion.
