For Fashion magazines, the Spring issue is always the big seller of the year. What can you possibly do to be outstanding when the market is saturated? Well when V magazine announced yesterday the launch of their issue with a glowing cover, I thought I was going to be nuts! Indeed, today I desperately walked through Manhattan to get that piece of paper with no luck. Until I decided to go home and walked by this little book store at the corner of Lafayette and Spring St. Yeah!! I found it, with no hesitation I grabbed my wallet even if that was the last thing to do in this recession.
I can’t wait that this evening to see that piece glowing. I started to read the issue and the cover introduces pretty well the electric/neon theme throughout the magazine. FYI, V uses a special neon typography that causes the V and the words “V GLOW IN THE DARK” on the cover to glow in the dark. By Dan Forbes and created by Lite Brite Neon. Why? “Because V needed to lighten up and brighten this Spring, we’re in dark times!” says Stephen Gan, the editor-in-chief of V Magazine.
